Lorna McCann is an award-winning children’s author based in Shropshire and founder of The Rural Schools Write, Read, Inspire Project. Lorna writes imaginative, engaging and fun tales for children aged 3 to 7 to enjoy anywhere at anytime. Her stories and characters are brought to life with beautifully drawn and brightly coloured illustrations and Lorna hopes her books will encourage children to enjoy reading, writing and drawing for many years to come. 


Lorna has written two Amazon best-selling children’s books and has a third book on the way.

Lorna has inspired hundreds of school pupils across Shropshire and beyond through her author visits in primary schools.

Projects and Workshops

Lorna is the founder of the Rural Schools Write, Read and Inspire project which aims to deliver creative reading and writing workshops within small, rural primary schools.

Lorna won the award for Best Children’s Product for her book Wendy and the Biscuit Tree at the Businesses for Children Awards in Shropshire

Lorna supports the work of independent authors and illustrators in the UK through her projects and workshops
